Child Dies After Being Run Over By Trinamool MP’s Car In Bengal


The family of the child who died after he was hit by the car of MP Abu Taher Khan


A six-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by the car of a Member of Parliament in West Bengal.

The car belongs to Murshidabad MP Abu Taher Khan, who is from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. The accident took place at Pipdekhali Bazaar in Murshidabad.

The child has been identified as Hashim Sarkar, 6, a resident of Murshidabad.

The child had gone out with his mother and he was crossing the road unattended while his mother was completing some work at a nearby bank.

Mr Khan was on his way to Berhampur and his car was also crossing the area when the child was hit by his car.

Mr Khan rushed the child to a hospital, where he died during treatment.

“The child suddenly came in front of our vehicle. A small child, he was five or six. We rushed him to the hospital. It happened in front of me. Maybe he suffered a brain injury,” Mr Khan told reporters outside the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the car must have been travelling at around 60 kmph when the child suddenly came in front of the vehicle.

At the hospital, the child’s parents broke down in front of doctors and reporters, devastated by their immeasurable loss.

The driver of the car has been apprehended and the vehicle has been seized by the police.
